The rumour that Anaheim is willing to listen to offers on Bobby Ryan has rekindled that spark in Leaf fans that makes us chase after seemingly unattainable players. Bobby Ryan has been a name dropped by many in the past, and now that there is a small chance that he could be available rumours and HFboards proposals are only going to get worse. What is the truth about the Bobby Ryan situation? The truth is Ryan is playing on a team that can’t afford to be bad and expensive. If the team loses the fans are gone and a team that already struggles with its current cap spending begins to hemorrhage money.

Presently the Leafs are sitting in 5th place in the conference but have played more games than most of the teams in the league. In fact the Leafs have only earned 57% of the maximum number of points they could accumulate in their first 21 games. When you look at the East using these percentages the Leafs fall to 9th in the conference, just off the 58.3% of the Devils and Capitals that are holding down 7th and 8th using this metric.
Of course most of the Leafs success is based on a few factors that will be difficult to replicate. no comments

I guess you could call my present state "modified panic." It's hard to be at DEFCON 1 when your team is still second in the conference and it's 14 games into season before the first time you've lost twice in a row. In fact the Leafs have the same point total this season as they did on November 27th last season, eight games later than where we presently sit.
So why can't we enjoy that? All fingers are squarely pointed at Jonas Gustavsson. Two weeks ago I wrote a post suggesting Gustavsson's time was up. Not surprising as he hasn't been able to achieve a 90% save percentage or GAA below 3 in the past year. I wrote this at a time when it was assumed Reimer's return was imminent. It no longer seems to be. I suggested that Ben Scrivens be given a chance to show what he can do, we have since learned he is not ready to be an NHL goaltender yet. Disappointing, but somewhat understandable.

StadiumJourney.com has done a review of the Air Canada Centre and has asked me to share it with my readers.
I have read their review, but as I have never set foot inside of the ACC I can’t agree nor disagree with their assessments, though I am certainly not surprised by the lower Return on Investment score. I was surprised to see Rexall Place, a building running on borrowed time, beating the Air Canada Centre in scoring.
So please check on the review and let the good folks of Stadium Journey know what they got right and what isn’t jiving. Be sure to check out some of the other arenas and stadiums they have listed as it is quite the informative site.

It's game 14 for the Leafs but only game 4 for Cody "Not Lebda" Franson (Leafs are presently 1-2-0 with Franson in the line-up.) Or at least it seemed like he wasn't going to be Brett Lebda. In Cody's limited appearances this season he has put up the Lebdaesque Plus/Minus -4 (-3 of that came in one game.) no comments

It's been one year that I've been blogging here at Puckin' Eh and today on the one year Anniversary of the site I am also putting up the 200th post on this site.
In the grandest fashion of milestones I give you nothing new and instead a lazy "greatest hits" compilation. I have selected the 10 posts that were the most popular and my personal favourites for you to reminisce about.
